for the love of sports

As I have blogged before, Andy & I met through a strange combination of internet, hockey and bars.

Being huge Buffalo Sabres fans, for the first few years, Andy & I had season tickets and went to as many as 25 hockey games each season. It was our primary source of entertainment during the cold Buffalo winters.

Once Tay came, we gave that up. In fact, up until last Saturday, we had not gone to a single game this entire season. But instead, we spent a little extra money and got tickets for last Saturday's game right on the glass behind the Sabres' bench.

So last Saturday we had a date night. Taylor's Nana, Papa & Aunt Katey came over to babysit. I dressed Taylor in Sabres gear to root on the team, and I have to admit she looked ridiculously adorable with her big smile, dimples and her shirt that said "Don't change me till the game is over"!

We met up with another couple before the game for dinner and drinks. It was really nice to have adult beverages, errr conversations. And then Andy & I made our way to the arena for some hockey fun.

Our seats were really cool. We were basically ON the bench. Here are a few pictures I took with my cell phone.

My view from my seat before the game started:
Two of my favorite players:
The little shortie on the team (we named our cat after him):

That's right, Enroth (the backup goalie) is checking me out! Hahaha!

It was a lot of fun. Yeah, the Sabres may have lost, but that night was definitely a win!

  2. That shirt is so cute! I'm glad you both were able to get away for dinner with friends and a hockey game. And I bet the grandparents didn't mind watchin the babe too much either. :)

  3. You knew I'd have a lot to say about this post, right??

Despite it being the Sabres, I'm still super jealous that you got a hockey date! We haven't been able to make it to any Ranger games this year and that makes me sad. Bud is old enough now (and since he's a super duper hockey player himself) we really wanted to take him to a game. It doesn't help that MSG is 4 1/2 hrs away but still! I'd like to think next year we'll get to bring him!

And can I say...SUPER AWESOME that you got to sit LITERALLY behind the bench! I want to be you, I mean, I wish I could do that!!! ;-)

  4. Oh, I'd love to go see a penguins game with Chris (his favorite team) but ever since they last won the Stanley Cup, tickets are approximately $1 million each which makes them just a wee bit out of our price range.
