Is it me...

..or are the captcha phrases these days getting OUT OF CONTROL?

If I want to comment on a blog, I used to have to decipher one small word.  No biggie.  Now they are two looooong "words" and even have punctuation mixed into them.  And the shading of the letters sometimes makes it impossible to read.  I swear just the other day, I had one that looked like this:

ms paint is my friend

Of course I realize I sound like an old angry woman with first world problems, but this is what is bothering me today.  SO DEAL WITH IT!!!

  1. YAY MS Paint!!

I think instead of captcha they should be called Gotcha's! They are DAMN near impossible!! And yeah, the first time I got one with punctuation I thought to myself, "Is that really a comma? When did punctuation get involved? Is that really a comma?" Not cool!

  2. I HATE these things. I keep meaning to add this at the end of a post asking if people will please turn them off! (I hope mine is off...)

  4. Yes! It's getting awful! I tried to delete the need to do that on my blog the other day but couldn't figure out how.

  5. I thought I commented on your blog yesterday from my phone and it didn't show up. Apparently I'm bad at it whether I can decipher impossible captchas or not!

  6. i totally agree! I get annoyed when i write a really thorough comment and forget people have spam guards so my comments dont save. Or the captcha takes me too long to figure out and then i'm over it. :)

  12. Ahhh! I'm so glad I'm not alone. I was going to write a post about this too. I took pictures on my phone of some of the ridiculous captcha's I've encountered. I wish people would take that shit off their settings. It makes me not want to leave a comment.

  15. I'm pretty sure I spent a good 2 hours tonight deciphering and typing out captchas. I really do.not.get why people feel the need to have that on their blogs. Unless they're my sister from another mister, then I'm outta there without commenting. Turn that mother off!

I love that you did a blog post about this too. That paint representation is pretty spot-on. Just genius.

  17. no you are so so so right! i always have to copy my comment b/c naturally i will write this long meaningful book of an answer, my captcha will get denied and comment deleted. And after trying unsuccessfully again, I usually end up with "cute kid." haha. I think blogger and facebook are in cahoots - to make these social networks "better" and by that I mean "totally more confusing."

  18. The only reason I don't hate them is because I occasionally get one that is almost an actual word and it is always a hilarious word. Example, once it said doushe.

Hey, I always try and pronounce them, sometimes I am lucky and it is an actual word!

  21. They are getting out of control! I had trouble with those when I first launched my blog, so I just got rid of them - but now it means I have to patrol my comments a bit more carefully.
